Green Buildings

Launched in 2002, the GBCA is a national, not-for-profit organisation that is committed to developing a sustainable property industry for Australia by encouraging the adoption of green building practices. It is uniquely supported by both industry and governments across the country.

Mission

The Green Building Council's mission is to develop a sustainable property industry for Australia and drive the adoption of green building practices through market-based solutions.

Objectives

Its key objectives are to drive the transition of the Australian property industry towards sustainability by promoting green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations as well as the integration of green building initiatives into mainstream design, construction and operation of buildings.

Green Buildings

Green Star, developed by the Green Building Council of Australia, is an effective design and operational assessment tool for commercial building. The environmental program has a number of assessments and ratings to monitor the energy efficiency and environmental impact of a building.

All of the Vertilux environmental products meet specific environmental criteria and can assist in achieving environmental credit points for a building. These include:

IEQ-4 Daylight Glare Control: The use of appropriate Eloquent, Madison, Zing, Euroscreen, Chanell and Metalo (Trevira CS) fabrics can contribute to the achievement of one credit point.

IEQ-5 Daylight Glare Control: The use of appropriate Eloquent, Madison, Zing, Euroscreen, Chanell or Metalo (Trevira CS) fabrics can contribute to the achievement of one credit point.

Ene-1 Energy Efficiency: The use of appropriate Eloquent, Madison, Zing, Euroscreen, Chanell or Metalo (Trevira CS) fabrics can assist in the reduction of a building's energy consumption.

Ene-2 Energy Improvements: The use of appropriate Eloquent, Madison, Zing, Euroscreen, Chanell or Metalo (Trevira CS) fabrics can contribute to reduced energy consumption.

Vertilux is a Green Buildings Council Australia member.

Helioscreen is a proud sponsor of the Green Building Council of Australia. And has many products that meet the requirements of the Green Star™ criteria.

Helioscreen is committed to reducing energy consumption and has developed a range of sun control products and fabrics which support this cause. The Heliogreen products use manufacturing methods which are designed to minimize the impact on the environment and use eco-friendly constituent parts with low VOC emissions.

By installing a Heliogreen Sun Control System, the internal conditions of any room are improved. The demand on air conditioning systems quickly reduces, saving energy and greenhouse gas emissions.

IEQ-4 Daylight Glare Control : If 100% of blinds or screens installed are Helioscreen – Heliogreen fabrics, and connected to a Building management system with manual override, use of these fabrics may contribute towards the possible achievement of 1 credit point.

IEQ-5 Daylight Glare Control : If 100% of blinds or screens installed are Helioscreen – Heliogreen fabrics, and connected to a Building management system with manual override, use of these fabrics may contribute towards the possible achievement of 1 credit point.

Ene-1 Energy Efficiency : If Helioscreen – Heliogreen internal polyester fabrics are installed in the base building. Use of these fabrics may contribute towards reduced energy consumption of the building if included in the building energy load modelling process.

Ene-2 Energy Improvements : If Helioscreen – Heliogreen internal polyester fabrics are installed in the base building. Use of these fabrics will contribute towards improved overall energy efficiency of the building. This increased efficiency should be reflected in the energy load modelling process. (Maximum of 15 credit points can be achieved by improving energy efficiency in buildings).
